2019/20 School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Newsletter Welcome Greetings from the new Head of School. It was already a busy and eventful year for us, before we were all hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. The final year of the M.Pharm. programme rolled out for the first time, the biggest project ever undertaken by the School. The new programme provides world class competencybased training for 21st century pharmacists and we could not have delivered on it without the support of the whole pharmacy community. Our fifth years from that programme are now out in the community and in hospital on placement supporting the national response to the pandemic and we are very proud of them. Students from years one to four have also been working on the frontline, some putting in extra hours in support of their pharmacy colleagues. The courageous and professional response of our students to the healthcare crisis is a credit to the profession. The School recently completed the accreditation process for the M.Pharm. programme. We consolidated our place in the top 50 Schools in the world in pharmacy and pharmacology for outstanding research and employer reputation. The Newsletter aims to provide a flavour of our busy School. It contains news of personnel changes along with personal, professional and research successes. This is an important time for pharmacy and the School very much wants to support its development and to be in the middle of the conversation about its future. It is an important time for the University too with the launch of its new strategic plan 2020-2025. We have important decisions to make that will affect how we do our business and how we support and lead the profession. Through all this the School will continue to dedicate itself to studentcentred care and research excellence. I know that we have the support of all of our alumni.
