Sharm El-Sheikh Sharm El-Sheikh is an Egyptian resort town situated on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula on the coastal strip along the Red Sea. Internationally recognised as the city of peace by UNESCO in 2000 and renowned for its ecotourism and protected diverse natural habits, Sharm El-Sheikh was chosen to host COP27. The Egyptian government is working on a plan to transform Sharm El-Sheikh into a green, environmentally friendly city. The ministries of Environment and Tourism are collaborating to implement a sustainable tourism strategy, instructing all hotels and tourist facilities to obtain a green certificate to show they are using green practices within their operations.
