Trinity Tales T he fifth and final volume of the Trinity Tales series, which began with the 1960s, invites readers to step into the world of Trinity College through the eyes of students who attended the university during the first decade of this century. The book contains stories from 28 graduates whose experiences of studying at Ireland’s oldest university may dispel the myth of what it actually means to be a ‘Trinity student’. Their contributions reveal the rapidly changing world of the early 2000s – a time that saw students go from handwritten essays to electronic submissions; the widespread introduction of mobile phones and laptops; the birth of social media and the implosion of the Irish economy. This compilation offers a snapshot of the lives of the gradually diversifying student body of Trinity in the early 2000s. It captures a student body in transformation and features stories of personal discovery and achievement against the odds. For some it proved a life-changing era when sexual, racial and class barriers were confronted. Their tales are often touching or humorous and always profoundly human. The volume includes a foreword by Ivana Bacik and contributions from 28 Trinity graduates, including authors Elske Rahill, Claire Hennessy, Caitríona Lally and Jarlath Gregory, politician Heledd Fychan, women’s advocate Sarah Benson, musician Loah, journalist Hal Hodson, academic Katriona O’Sullivan, actor Uché Gabriel Akujobi and director Wayne Jordan.
