Retired KU professor receives Polish medal from WWII In July, on his 95th birthday, retired University of Kansas Professor Jarek Piekalkiewicz, BA (1958), received Poland’s Medal of Valor more than 75 years after he fought with the Polish resistance against the occupying forces of Nazi Germany during World War II. After the war, Jarek earned his bachelor’s degree and met his wife at Trinity before moving to the US. Emma is responsible for building office solutions for industry verticals such as healthcare, banking, and retail, and additional solutions for hybrid work productivity & employee wellbeing. Emma is a strong creative leader who has always worked to put customers at the centre of product design and strategy. As a Research Fellow at Trinity, Emma worked with Professor John Scattergood on a catalogue of Middle English manuscripts in the Old Library. Over three decades hence, in April 2021, the catalogue was finally published by the Four Courts Press and Emma is listed as a co-author.
