DEAR ALUMNI Dear Alumni, It’s been a year like no other, for Trinity, as for all of you. Amid the many challenges, we’re pleased and proud that we’ve been able to maintain teaching and research throughout the year. This is thanks to the remarkable engagement and adaptiveness of staff and students and it’s thanks to the support of you, our alumni. You have been here for us in so many ways – from your phenomenal response to our call for support for the Student Hardship Fund and the Tech2Student initiative to your ongoing volunteering, mentoring and careers advice to students, now delivered through digital platforms. And we’ve been so inspired by your response to our webinars and other online events. Thousands of you have been in touch and involved this year. We look forward to bringing you many more events next year. Our connection to you, our alumni, is so important for all of us in Trinity and particularly for our students. Unfortunately, the economic uncertainty occasioned by COVID-19 will likely continue to impact our students next year, with Trinity Access students particularly affected. Excluding tuition, the average cost of living for a student in Ireland is €12,000 - well beyond the means of our Access students, who come from disadvantaged communities and are often the first in their families to attend university. Trinity Access provides scholarships from €1,000 to €2,500 to help pay for rent, travel, textbooks and equipment. These essential scholarships are made possible by the generosity of Trinity alumni and friends. I am asking you to please consider a year-end gift to Trinity Access of €250 to help transform the life of a student who would otherwise struggle to stay in college. If you can contribute to this inspiring project, please click here to support. Thank you for strengthening our college community and for supporting our students to transform their own lives and contribute to a compelling future for all. Wishing you and your families a happy Christmas and an inspiring New Year. Warmest regards, Kate Bond Director of Advancement Trinity Development & Alumni
