BTRE is defined as symptomatic epileptic seizures secondary to gliomas. BTRE is debilitating and difficult to control and seizures are closely related to recurrence/progress of the tumour. Nazia was successful in securing support for her laboratory-based studentship in the form of a Breakthrough cancer research summer scholarship and the Dr Henry Cooke Drury Student Research Fellowship. Under the supervision of Dr Kate Connor and Professor Cunningham, Nazia will examine the impact of novel glutamate receptor antagonists on glioma cell growth, invasion and neurophysiological patterns of activity associated with BTRE. 31
