AS MAESWIHTHOSZINIÉEARD Musician and former Trinity College Dublin student Andrew ‘Hozier’ Byrne recently sat down for an interview with Trinity PhD student and activist Sinéad Burke for her ‘As Me with Sinéad’ podcast. Hozier took a break from his global tour to talk about unlearning negative thinking, overcoming stage fright and learning to be comfortable in his own skin. The ‘Take Me to Church’ singer also talked about how he uses his platform as a tool for building empathy, and even shared the intricacies of his personal creative process. Hozier, from Bray, was born on St Patrick’s Day in 1990, and performed with the choral ensemble Anúna while in College. ‘Take Me to Church’ was the most streamed song in 2014 and was nominated for Song of the Year at the Grammys, losing out to Sam Smith’s ‘Stay With Me’. Hozier recently released his sophomore album, ‘Wasteland, Baby!’, which debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
