Dear friends, As we reach the end of another week of daunting news headlines about COVID-19 – as anxieties mount, economies suffer, and populations prepare for a public-health crisis the world has not seen in generations – Trinity College will do everything it can to support the community. Over the past number of weeks, academics the world over have been at the forefront of explaining the crisis to the public and to policy makers, and in developing medicines to defeat this virus. Our colleagues here in Trinity have been no exception and are contributing in many different ways to the scientific argument and to the public-information campaign around this devastating new disease. In this e-zine we have included a selection of this information that we hope you and your families will find useful and informative. We also express our appreciation to all who are working on the frontline to combat this disease whether as part of healthcare professional teams working tirelessly in hospitals and clinics, in research, or in the service of the public in a myriad of other ways. The podcasts and articles compiled in this e-zine are a reminder of the importance to society of strong, independent universities; they are a reminder of the importance of genuine expertise, knowledge and understanding based on research and scholarship. We wish you and your families good health in the days ahead, and we vow to keep you up to date on this emergency in the coming weeks.
