It is Oklahoma’s single largest medical facility built by a group of private physicians and the largest number of cancer specialists at one center. In addition to new technologies, the facility will also feature a wellness center, healing gardens, a mentoring area, and bright, open spaces. This $60 million project on 16 acres is aiming for LEED Silver for Environmental Design. Using nature as a healing element, this 86,000 sq ft. building comprises of 72,000 sq. ft. of access floors including 12,000 sq. ft. of Tate’s Nurrazzo finish on two levels. The building’s two floors are arranged around three precise program features which centers around a healing garden. The building also benefits from Tate’s underfloor air distribution system. Even the rest rooms are on raised access floors! Other green features include de-mountable walls and sliding barn-like doors to ensure complete flexibility for the building, another benefit of including access floors. “The new facility will let us treat and prevent cancer at a whole new level for our patients,” Mark Olsen, president of Tulsa Cancer Institute, said in a statement. “We will have the very best treatment and technologies and a wellness center, all to help our patients through a very difficult time in their life.” Tate is proud to have been a part of this worthy project!
