works and what does not – the basics of becoming a competent paddler. Rolling, support braces, balance brace etc. are cheatingly simple: less initial stability to overcome during rotation, better secondary stability to assist in the final stage – and, of course, the low sheer amidships and aft deck facilitating stroke dynamics in paddling, rolling and maneuverings. The balanced stability curve and low deck make it easy to climb back into the cockpit after a wet exit, for non-rollers. Looks are not to be overlooked! From Shaker philosophy: “Don’t make something unless it is both necessary and useful; but if it is both necessary and useful, don’t hesitate to make it beautiful.” I couldn’t agree more! We wanted Frej to be a visual statement as well as a functional and efficient paddling machine – a restrained, but bold and exciting elegance that stands out among the competition and is appealing in all viewing angles – a kayak to be proud to be seen in, and one that is easily recognized even from afar. Björn Thomasson It has been worth waiting for - what a kayak! I felt safe and secure despite scratching the lake with 0.5-1 m high waves. Easy to keep the course as it waves with the waves, stable and easy to control with the lake across or against. Jens, Danmark 9
