Kingspan Planet Passionate Report 2022 Case Study: Belter Tech Mechanical Recycling Insulated Panel North America are experimenting with new ways to keep its insulation production waste in use within the economy. They have recently partnered up with Atlanta based Belter Tech, a manufacturer of sustainable building materials made from reclaimed waste products and recycled feedstocks. For the past two years, Belter Tech have been repurposing PIR (polyisocyanurate) insulated panel waste from its Deland facility into a filler for their cementitious mixes. The process begins with insulation waste being granulated and used as a filler in new innovative construction products. Applications include an insulative concrete fill with superior r-value and sound transmission values. Belter Therm®, which makes use of our PIR production waste, is used to create Belter Tech Cem-Rock SIM system (Structural Insulated Magnesium) which contains 66% recycled content. Additionally, Kingspan insulation waste is manufactured by Belter Tech into fire- retardant panel board products that are currently being used by the film industry in Georgia.
