Legislation and product approval The performance of water installations within the basic borderline is classed as construction work that is subject to building legislation - and therefore the provisions of the building legislation must be followed for these installation works. Construction law Construction legislation consists of the following: • Building Act • Building Regulations 2010 (BR2010) • Local by-laws/regulations The Building Act (Executive Order of Building Act No. 452 of 24 June 1998) contains fundamental rules and principles, including administrative competence to draw up supplementary regulations, including those dealing with technical- construction proposals. The Building Act is not applicable to Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Local by-laws/regulations Local authorities (municipalities) may decide that special measures must be taken in their municipality. The municipal board must draw up a regulation containing provisions concerning the right to supply water, - and restrictions on the supply of water for special purposes, as well as provisions on the calculation of water consumption and taxes.
