Building materials not in contact with drinking water All building materials in an installation must meet the requirements in the Danish Building Regulations 2015, section 8.4.1, paragraph 5 on the requirements for mechanical/physical characteristics. The building materials must either be CE-marked or have undergone a review of the properties that are relevant to Denmark, and be subject to a production inspection by the manufacturer that ensures that the declared performance is maintained. The requirement applies to all building materials in a water or sewage installation, even if the building materials have an “approved for drinking water” or “drop mark.” The required documentation (test report) must be submitted to developers o The water and sewage approval scheme, which is already a well-known scheme for building materials in the water and sewage area, provides documentation for compliance with BR 8.4.1, paragraph 5. If the building materials have a valid water and sewage approval, they can immediately be used in a Danish installation, because ETA-Danmark ensures the required documentation from the supplier and makes the necessary ongoing inspection visits in the production before issuing the water and sewage approval. A water and sewage approval will contain information about any requirements on being “approved for drinking water,” so a valid water and sewage approval will always be a good basis for assessing the building materials’ usefulness in a Danish installation.
