MOUNTING INSTRUCTION SHELVING SYSTEM TRADITIONAL Elfa’s classic wall mounted ”Sparring” Shelving system. Based on Wallbands, brackets and traditional solid shelves. The system is flexible in terms of determining section widths and can be used for building tailor-made solutions for challenging spaces such as around a door posts or under a stair case. You need the following to assemble your solution: • Screwdriver/drilling machine • Leveller PLANNING When planning the section measurements of your solution, carefully think about how much weight you intend to place on the shelves. We recommend the following maximum loads based on the following sec- tion widths (CC measurement in cm between wallbands): Also, consider the recommended limits regarding how much a solid shelf can/should “stick out” from the metal structure behind. We recommend that: • The maximum protrusion for a shelf width wise is up to 100 mm from the side of the bracket • The maximum protrusion for a shelf depth wise is up to 100 mm from the nose of the bracket MOUNTING WALLBANDS AND SHELVES Start by positioning the first wallband. Then fasten the wallband with a screw in the upper hole. Preferably, use a leveller in order to determine that the wallband is straight, before fastening the other screws through the holes in the wallband. 1. Before mounting the next wallband, make sure that the wallbands are perfectly matched in height. Fasten the second wallband in the upper hole and repeat the process with the leveller to ensure that this wallband also is straight. 2. When ready with the wallband structure, attach the brackets to the wallbands, through bending in the up- per “teeth” of the brackets – and then letting the bracket be lowered down. 1. Place the solid shelves onto the brackets and position them carefully. In order to attach the solid shelves, the most common way is to use bracket screws. Use the shorter screw for the front of the bracket and the longer screw for the rear hole in the bracket. 2. Then fasten the solid shelf. In order to avoid cracks in the shelf, it might be a good idea to pre-drill the shelf with a slightly smaller dimension in the bore hole, before attaching the screws. © 2022 Elfa International AB.
