Business Overview Our Backdrop Social Grants Social grants in South Africa remain a vital safety net particularly in the poorest provinces. This is according to the General Household Survey 2022 report released by Statistics South Africa¹. Nationally, grants are the 2nd most important source of income for households¹. Grants account for 50,2% of income , after salaries, which account for 59,7%¹. Gender Equality South Africa has one of the highest gender gap indices (0.79) in the world, placing it 20th out of 146 countries. This index measures economic participation and opportunity, education, health, survival, and political empowerment². Men have higher chances of having a job, and becoming employers and managers³. Only 21.9% of small businesses are owned by women in South Africa⁴. Unemployment Rate The unemployment rate in South Africa is 33.5% and 54% for youth. It is the highest in the African continent⁵. Botswana: 23.4%⁵ | Namibia: 19.4%⁵. Unemployment affects women more due to systemic barriers and limited access to economic opportunities⁶. Rural areas have higher unemployment due to limited economic activities, infrastructure, and opportunities⁵. 4

With the high unemployment rate that affects our communities; members of the BBB Sales Force can sell products to supplement their income, meet specific financial needs, or grow their business systematically through various levels, progressively earning more and becoming more financially secure. Through years of experience and refinement of the business model in South Africa, it has proven to be transferable and applicable to other African markets, addressing similar issues that are prevalent elsewhere. This business model empowers individuals to generate income by selling our products in a straightforward and accessible way . We provide catalogues at no cost, offer products on credit (guided by a credit policy or upfront deposits in some markets), and collect payments only after sales are made. This model allows people to join without needing upfront capital or paying subscription fees. By providing the opportunity to earn an income , BBB reduces dependency on social grants, which are a vital safety net and key source of income for many in Africa.
