Drive and charging options The best of two worlds Choosing a hybrid may seem mainly like a sensible move on your part, but choosing the Golf GTE rewards you with plenty of driving pleasure. That’s because an almost silent electric motor is combined with a dynamic 1.4 l TSI direct injection petrol engine, resulting in a drive system that achieves a boost system output of 180 kW (245 PS). With a purely electric range of 62 km (in accordance with WLTP)1, it cuts a fine figure on urban roads, while on country roads it uses the combustion engine and electric motor together, for benefits including extended range. 01 02 Fuel consumption in litres/100 km: 1.5 (combined); power consumption, kWh/100 km: 11.4 (combined); CO₂ emissions in g/km: 34 (combined), efficiency class: A+ Standard equipment S Optional equipment OE 01 With the plug-in hybrid Golf GTE, you can very easily charge the battery of the electric motor at a standard socket in your home. After five hours – or less – the liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery is fully recharged, giving you a maximum range of up to 62 km (in accordance with WLTP)1. The battery can even be completely recharged within 3 hours and 40 minutes if you use the optional mode 3 type 2 charging cable with an optional home charging station or at a public charging station. S 02 The high-torque hybrid drive system of the Golf GTE consists of an almost noiseless electric motor with seamless power transmission, and an innovative 1.4 l TSI direct injection petrol engine with 110 kW (150 PS), resulting in considerable dynamism and low consumption. Together, the engine and motor accelerate the Golf GTE from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds – up to a short-term top speed of 225 km/h. At the same time, they achieve a boost system output of 180 kW (245 PS), with impressive torque of up to 400 Nm. In addition to three intuitive hybrid operating modes, the purely electric e-mode is ideal for urban centres – for up to 62 km (in accordance with WLTP)1. That means that you can take advantage of electric driving in the city; use the engine and motor together when overtaking on provincial roads; and for longer trips, benefit from extended range thanks to the TSI engine. S 1 Range determined on a rolling road test bed in accordance with the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) for the equipment variant with the most favourable range. The actual WLTP range values can differ based on the vehicle equipment. The actual range varies in practice depending on driving style, speed, use of convenience features or other equipment, outside temperature, number of passengers/load and topography.
